BJP's Narayan Choudhury alleges his son was beaten by MLA Dilip Paul's brother; "Name unknown" written in FIR

Today afternoon, an FIR was lodged in Silchar Sadar Police Station. Member of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Kuldeep Choudhury alleged that he was attacked by Sreeram Sales’ owner. Bleeding from his forehead, Kuldeep Choudhury went on and lodged a complaint in the Police station.

Speaking with the media, Choudhury said that he went to Dr, Lal Pathlabs opposite Public School Road (Gopinath) to get his blood test done. “As I walked inside, someone shouted and said that I must move my motorbike parked outside. I went to move it and keep it aside, in the meantime, a man came and started talking to me rudely. I confronted him and asked him to talk politely. That is it, and he started beating me. Soon four others joined and started attacking me,” said Kuldeep Choudhury.

He added, “As I was getting attacked, the man said he is the owner of Sreeram Sales and the brother of MLA Dilip Paul. He also added that no one can do anything to him as he is powerful enough.”

Kuldeep Choudhury’s father, Narayan Choudhury introduced himself as a member of the executive committee of BJP’s Cachar district. “If my son is getting attacked by the MLA’s brother, this is not right. He himself is a member of BJYM and yet the MLA’s brother had the audacity to go and beat him. Imagine how they must be terrorising the common people. The public must hold the MLA responsible for this behaviour of his brother.”

Though Son and father both named Silchar MLA Dilip Paul and said that his brother who owns Sreeram Sales attacked Kuldeep Choudhury, the FIR read, “Accused – the owner of Sreeram Sales Name Unknown.”

Narayan Choudhury went on to say, “It is in the air that Dilip Paul will not get the ticket from BJP to contest in the upcoming elections and that is why the entire family has gone mad and started behaving abnormally. Why would his brother attack a young boy otherwise.” Choudhury also said that he had played a pivotal role in getting Dilip Paul the ticket to contest elections from Silchar. Time and again he mentioned that he has been a part of BJP since the party’s inception. He also claimed to know MLA Dilip Paul and his family very well.

Despite that, in the FIR, he did not name the brother of the MLA who attacked his son, instead mentioned “name unknown.” How is it possible that Narayan Choudhury knows everyone in the family but finds it difficult to recall the name of the MLA’s brother who owns Sreeram Sales? Is it a political mud slugging before the election exposing infighting within BJP? When reached out, MLA Dilip Paul said he wouldn’t like to comment on the issue.

As it stands now, videos of Kuldeep Choudhury bleeding from his forehead has gone viral on Social Media. Barak Bulletin sourced a copy of the complaint lodged by Kuldeep Choudhury and it does not mention the name of the person who allegedly attacked him. But it says, “Owner of Sreeram Sales” who is MLA Dilip Paul’s brother.
