Blast at a mosque in Hailakandi; Police suspecting Mizo miscreants

Tensions have gripped Kachurthal and neighbouring areas in Hailakandi district following a blast near a mosque on Thursday night.

Kachurthal is located near Assam-Mizoram border in Hailakandi district, around 120km from Silchar.

According to latest reports, police are suspecting a gang of miscreants to be behind the incident. The mosque, near which the explosion occurred, was partially damaged. There have been no reports of casualty so far.

On Friday morning, police officials from Ramnathpur reached the spot and initiated the investigation process. Prima facie, it seems like some miscreants from Mizo community were behind the incident, a police official said.
