Body of missing businessman from Ramnagar recovered from marsh behind his residence

Manik Uddin Barbhuiya, aged 51, belonging to Silchar’s Ramnagar area went missing two days ago. Sunday, his family members filed a missing person’s FIR at the Tarapur Police station, following which the search for his whereabouts became intense. Monday morning, his body was found floating on a marsh some distance behind his residence in the Berakhal area in Ramnagar, Silchar.

• His body was recovered from the water body on monday at around 10:30 am. According to sources in the police, victim Manik Uddin Barbhuiya is a businessman by profession and he went missing Sunday. After the FIR was filed, police jumped into action for the search of the missing person. Monday morning, his body was found floating on a marsh situated a few metres behind his own house. Rumours of murder surfaced in the neighbourhood the moment his body was recovered by the  authority from the scene, but nothing as such has been confirmed yet by the police.

At the time of reporting, his body has been sent for post-mortem. Tarapur police ASI Anand Medhi said that the victim’s body was recovered monday morning, and his body has been sent for post-mortem. So until the post-mortem result comes, the reason behind Manik’s mysterious death shouldn’t be concluded as of now. “The investigation is still on, until the post-mortem result comes out, we can’t tell anything for certainty”, said ASI Anand Medhi.
