Breaking news coming in from the Silchar Airport in Kumbirgram. Spicejet flight SG8152 scheduled to depart from Silchar for Guwahati at 2:30 pm has been controlled at the airport. The Airport Authority of India – Silchar took the decision after a bomb-threat.
According to available information, a chit was found under a seat on the flight. There was a message in that chit which has forced the authority to take preventive measures. The message on that chit was that “there is a bomb in the aircraft.”
“Yes, it is true that the flight has been delayed because of a chit found in the aircraft. At this stage, all I can say is that we are looking into the matter and following all the protocols. We will brief the press once we have more clarity on the ground,” said PK Gorai, director of the airport.
Sources in the airport informed that bomb-squad and the Fire Brigade have rushed to the spot. One passenger, on condition of anonymity, informed that they have been kept waiting for more than two hours and they are yet to get clarity on the situation. “There is a lot of panic among the fellow passengers,” said the commuter.
