Book shops to remain open three days a week from 10:00AM to 1:00 PM only for curriculum books 

The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar issued a notice today informing that the book stores in Cachar can remain open three days a week only for curriculum books. The stalls will have to primarily deliver the books at doorsteps but in case nearby guardians want to pick them up from the stores they can do so. However, the letter issued by the administration makes it clear that one cannot use a private or commercial vehicle to visit a bookstore.

The letter states, “In pursuance of the Notification issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India vide letter No 40-3/2020-DM-I(A), dated 21/4/2020, books shops/stalls with curriculum books for students only are allowed to operate weekly 3 (Three) days i.e. Monday, Wednesday & Friday.”

The letter adds that the stores will have to abide by the following conditions throughout Cachar District:

1. They will deal with curriculum books for students only.
2. Books shops/stalls will have to primarily arrange for home delivery of books.
3. In case of nearby guardians who want to collect the books from books shops/stalls without using the vehicle, may collect the books from the shops.
4. No passes will be issued to any individual/parents for collection of books from books shops/stalls.
5. Wearing of mask by the employee is compulsory along with sanitization facility and social distancing to be maintained at books shops/stalls.
6. Books shops/stalls are allowed to open between 10.00AM to 1.00PM.
7. For the movement of employees of books shops/stalls, proprietor of the Book Shops will issue identity card to them. No separate permission from District Administration is required.
