Breaking: Daring Robbery Shocks Cachar's Salganga: 12 Dacoits Loot Businessman's Residence, Opens Fire

In the wee hours of February 7th, a brazen gang of twelve dacoits struck the quiet neighborhood of Salganga, sending shockwaves through the community. The targeted residence belonged to prominent businessman Bikash Roy, located in the Udharbond area of Cachar district.

Armed to the teeth, the marauding group forcibly entered the Roy family’s home around 1:45 am, brandishing weapons and ammunition. Upon gaining entry, they swiftly rounded up the terrified occupants, binding their hands, and menacingly demanded valuables, including cash and jewelry, at gunpoint.

Disturbingly, the situation escalated when the criminals singled out Roy’s child, holding the innocent youngster captive under the threat of violence. Despite Roy’s assertion that he did not keep cash on the premises, the assailants persisted, coercing him into retrieving funds from his nearby shop.

Eyewitnesses reported a chilling scene as the dacoits, with their ill-gotten gains in tow, made their escape. Before vanishing into the night, they unleashed at least two rounds of gunfire, leaving bystanders trembling with fear.

The heist’s amounted to a staggering Rs 12 lakh, comprising both cash and jewelry. As the dawn broke over the scene of the crime, the traumatized family grappled with the harrowing aftermath of the ordeal.

Responding to the distress call, Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, and his team rushed to the crime scene, launching an investigation. A sniffer dog was also deployed along with forces to track and trace the criminals. However, the perpetrators remain at large, casting a pall of uncertainty over the community and raising pressing questions about the efficacy of local security measures.
