Breaking: NDRF Boat damaged with a dao in College Road, 3 detained; “Interrogation is on,” Police
What comes in as a bizarre turn of affairs from College Road Silchar, an NDRF boat has been damaged with a dao.
Today evening, when a team of NDRF personnel were returning after distributing relief items among the stranded families of inundated Ashram Road, the boat was attacked. Caught by surprise, the NDRF personnel got off the boat.
Soon Police were informed about the incident and Officer In Charge of Silchar Sadar confirmed that three individuals have been detained in connection with the attack on the boat.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin, the OC of Silchar Sadar said, “We have detained three individuals and they are being interrogated. No NDRF personnel got hurt, they have attacked the boat with a dao.”
The OC further informed, “According to the information available with us so far, the three individuals who have attacked the boat are from the Chatla area and were returning from Samshan Ghat. While they were crossing the College Road area, they damaged the boat with a dao.”
Why they attacked the boat is something that the Police are investigating. Santosh Das (32), Dhananjay Das (32) and another individual who is mentally unstable and therefore, his name stays concealed are the three individuals detained in connection with the attack on the NDRF boat deployed for relief and rescue of flood-affected residents of the city.
