Breaking News: Major fire in State Bank of India, Katlicherra branch
The evening has brought some shock for the people of Katlicherra as they saw black smoke coming out from a branch of State Bank of India. At around 9:00 PM today the locals witnessed smoke coming out of the branch and informed the fire station immediately.
As per the latest information, two fire engines from Katlicherra Fire station and one from Hailakandi has reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
The branch is located in an RCC building in Katlicherra Bazaar area. The initial assumption indicates short-circuit as the reason behind the fire. The manager of the branch has been asked to report as soon as possible and after that the Police will check if the cash is safe inside the vault.
Whenever a fire or any such accident takes place the bank remains shut for a few days till it is declared fit by the administration. However, the customers are attended and served in a nearby branch, “All bankers are trained to work in neighboring branches so that the customers don’t face any trouble and their bank works are not brought to a standstill. A neighbouring branch will have a dedicated desk for the customers of the affected branch,” said a banker.
He also mentioned that all details of the customers are safe and they need not submit any fresh documents nor there is a risk of losing any important data, “See the fire won’t harm customers in any manner and they need not panic,” the banker added.
