Bus from Mumbai: Hailakandi's 3 among 7 who tested COVID positive in Guwahati

Earlier today, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that seven people from the lot that reached Guwahati from Mumbai tested positive. On May 12, 2020, around 140 patients and their attendants who got stranded in Mumbai were brought back to the state. From that lot, seven individuals tested COVID19 positive.

 

The health minister tweeted, “7 patients & attendants who came from Mumbai & now in quarantine tested positive. Cancer: 1.Manoranjan Saha 2.Pradip Kumar Bania 3. Gopindra Chandra Malakar; Heart: 4. 13-year-old (name withheld) Attendants:5. P Basudev Patowari 6. Nilakantha Deb 7. Mina Rani Bania.”

 

Pradip Kumar Bania is a resident of Hailakandi’s Manipur Tea Estate. He had gone to Mumbai for treatment along with his wife Mina Rani Bania and attendant Nilakantha Deb who also tested positive. Pradip Kumar Bania is a retired teacher and as per available information, all three of them were under quarantine in Radisson Hotel in Guwahati.

 

Meanwhile, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “I and Pr Secy Health @samirsinha69 went to Radisson Hotel to evacuate seven #COVID19 + cases (who came from Mumbai) to get them transferred to GMCH. All other patients have been sent for home quarantine in their respective home districts.”
