Bus with 14 students to reach Cachar from Kishanganj; will be kept in facilities till administration gets reports
14 students from Silchar who went for an excursion to Kishanganj in Bihar will return tomorrow. District administration informed that the bus will reach Silchar tomorrow and the administration will follow the new protocols. The state government has made certain changes in its guidelines for incoming residents.
Earlier, the passengers were screened and only the ones with symptoms were tested while rest were allowed to go home provided they agreed to remain indoors for at least 14 days. “Now we will collect samples and test each and every passenger who travels from outside Northeast,” informed ADC, Sumit Sattavan.
Going by the new protocols, the 14 students who will return from Kishanganj tomorrow will be kept in government facility until the administration receives the test report. “This is the new guidelines set by State Government for all inbound passengers,” said Sattavan. The students on excursion got stranded due to the lockdown.
If the passengers test negative then a team under the leadership of deputy commissioner will take a call if the passenger should be allowed to go home or placed under quarantine in a government facility. “The state government has asked Cachar administration to form a team which will take the call on passengers traveling from outside Northeast,” informed Sattavan.
It is worth mentioning here that a bus from Ajmer, Rajasthan recently entered Cachar with 46 passengers out of which 10 have already tested positive. The additional deputy commissioner today informed that the administration has made “good progress” in isolating the passengers and their primary contacts. “The patients are in the COVID block of SMCH, the primary contacts have been kept in quarantine at a government facility. We have already barricaded 11 locations where those 10 patients could have possibly travelled,” informed Sattavan.
