Bye elections: 74.37 percent vote peacefully in Karimganj
Bye poll for Ratabari Constituency passed off peacefully along with 3 other Legislative assemblies of the state, which went for Bye-poll on Monday. An estimated 74.37 percent of the total 1.64 lakh voters of Ratabari used their franchise to decide the fate of 4 fighting candidates.
The polling officially ended at 5PM, however in some polling stations it was continuing, as a result the accurate turn-out can only be said, once all the polling parties returns to the EVM storing station. People from all caste, religion and ages were seen to come out with great enthusiasm and vote for their aspiring candidate.
Meanwhile according to an administrative sources, polling was conducted across 202 polling stations over the LAC, for which total of 968 police personnel were indulged. 6 polling stations were marked critical for which special security measures were adopted.
Counting of votes will take place on 24th October at Karimganj College. Bye poll for the Ratabari Constituency was necessitated after the sitting MLA and deputy speaker Kripanath Mallah was elected to the Lok Sabha.
