Cachar authorities launch 'Operation Sampriti' to restore peace and curb tension in Silchar

In response to the recent communal conflict in Silchar, the Cachar district administration and police authorities have jointly initiated “Operation Sampriti” to restore peace and harmony in the region. The operation aims to counter the spread of rumors and prevent further acts of violence in sensitive areas of the town.

As part of the initiative, extensive mobile announcements have been made in sensitive areas, urging residents to disregard rumors and maintain peace. The announcements also warned against engaging in fresh acts of violence or spreading hate messages on social media platforms. The authorities have emphasised that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such activities.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Rohan Kumar Jha, appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He assured the people that the administration is committed to their safety and requested them to report any threats or incidents of abuse to the nearest police outpost promptly.

The Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, assured the public that the police administration is closely monitoring the recent incidents in the district. Notably, they have already apprehended a person involved in disrupting communal harmony. Mahatta also cautioned that strict action will be taken against individuals found posting hate messages or inciting violence on social media platforms.

In a press release issued from the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, the authorities expressed their determination to restore normalcy in Silchar and prevent any further escalation of violence. Operation Sampriti represents a collaborative effort between the administration and police authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the affected areas.
