Cachar boy marries millionaire in Nagpur through matrimony site, cheats her off lakhs
A cheating tale has come fore in Cachar of a man looting his wife, in-laws of lakhs. A CRPF jawan Mansur Ahmed Barbhuiya, resident of Udharbond, Gosaipur on suspension, had a paid Shaadi.com profile and shown interest in a woman from Nagpur. This happened in December 2019. The woman, whom he had shown his interest informed him that there is no way this is a good match.
“I was overweight, one year older to him and so, I was not at all interested. But he kept pursuing the interest by sending messages regularly and I enjoyed the attention I was getting. Eventually, we met and he proposed to marry me in January 2020,” says Fatima Pathan, an advocate from Nagpur.
She belongs to a privileged-well to do family. At the time of wedding, Mansur Ahmed Barbhuiya said that he is employed with the CRPF. “My brother said that he is in the forces, looks smart and so the wedding was approved. His whole family was supposed to attend the wedding and we had even sent Rs 2 lakh for their tickets. However, he changed the plan last moment and only his sister and brother-in-law attended the same. With them as witness I formally married him and started my conjugal life,” informs Pathan.
Soon after their wedding, the pandemic broke and travel restrictions were imposed. Owing to which they could not travel back to Udharbond. Mansur’s sister and bother-in-law opened a Lassi joint in Nagpur. “My family financed the store and we all were living happily. In September 2021, when the travel restrictions were lifted, we visited Udarbond and started living together. It was like any other normal couple. In October 2020, I informed him that I have conceived and things started to change drastically,” says Pathan.
She alleges she was assaulted physically by her husband, sister-in-law and other family members. After Mansur married Fatima Pathan, he informed that he has loans and so the bank has kept his salaries in lien. Basically, he had no earnings. Pathan family paid Rs 15 lakh to settle the debts. “Later his sister started saying that, how can just in 15 lakh I have such a happy conjugal life. I am an elephant and he is such a handsome boy. We agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh more in anticipation that I will have a good married life. But nothing changed. They kept assaulting me and I kept suffering. In October 2020, we asked him to leave me at home in Nagpur,” informs Pathan.
On her way back to Nagpur, she had a miscarriage while at the Kolkata Airport. In January 2021, Mansur again established contact and apologised for his conduct. He promised to live a happily married life with Fatima Pathan. They got convinced again and Mansur moved to Nagpur. The family invested Rs 15 lakh and opened a Super Market for him to run. They also enrolled him to Nagpur Cricket Academy, bought him kits and they lived there.
It was not a happily married life, but Pathan family accepted it. In November, Fatima Pathan got to know that Mansur had a wife when he had sent the Shaadi.Com interest two years back. Moreover, Mansur has a kid too. She has now rushed to Silchar with her mother and maternal uncle. They have lodged a complaint at Udarbond Police Station accusing him of cheating. The Pathans have already invested almost Rs 50 lakh in this relationship.
“Two weddings are accepted in Islam and now my demand is that he must honour my wedding too. I am okay with him living six months with me and six with other wife. But he should accept me too. We can live in Nagpur or wherever he wants,” Fatima Pathan concludes.
