Cachar College Faculty Commissioned As NCC Lieutenant
In a proud moment for Cachar College, Dr Joyobrato Nath, Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, has been commissioned as a Lieutenant in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) after successfully completing his Pre-Commission Course (PRCN) at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee in Nagpur.
Dr. Nath underwent three months of rigorous training at OTA from January 5 to April 4, 2026. The course covered leadership and personality development, creative thinking, cyber security, drone warfare, military training, physical endurance, weapon handling, drill, and map reading—aimed at preparing Associate NCC Officers to mentor and lead cadets effectively.
The Passing Out Parade (POP), marking the successful completion of the course, was held on Saturday (April 4, 2026), with full military honours at OTA Kamptee, where Dr Nath was formally commissioned as a Lieutenant.
Dr Nath joined Cachar College on September 4, 2019, and has been actively involved in NCC activities over the past two years as a Caretaker Officer. His achievement has been widely celebrated by the college community.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nath said that becoming an Army officer had been his childhood dream, which could not be fulfilled earlier due to certain constraints. He added that after joining Cachar College, the NCC allowed him to fulfil that long-cherished dream and become associated with the Indian Armed Forces.
He expressed gratitude to Prof. Parthankar Choudhury, President of the Governing Body, Dr Apratim Nag, Principal of Cachar College, NCC authorities, and his family members for their support during the training period.
Congratulating him, Principal Dr Apratim Nag said that commissioning of the College faculty member as a Lieutenant in the NCC is a matter of immense pride for Cachar College. “We are confident that his leadership will further strengthen NCC activities in the college and inspire our students to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, and selfless service to the nation,” Dr Nag added.
