Cachar DC Barnali Sharma inaugurates Pulse Polio Immunization drive at Silchar Civil Hospital
Cachar DC, Barnali Sharma, on Sunday inaugurated Pulse Polio Immunization drive at S. M. Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar by administering the first two drops to District Media Expert, Suman Choudhury’s nine month old son Shreyansh.
The occasion was also witnessed by Rajib Roy, ADC, Dr. Sudip Jyoti Das, Jt. Director of Health Services, Dr. P. K. Roy, Addl. CM&HO, Dr. Ajit Bhattacharjee, SDM&HO, Dr. Ashutosh Barman, Superintendent, S.M.Dev Civil Hospital and other officials of Health Department.
According to a district administration release, an estimated 278621 number of children of age group 0 to 5 years are to be covered under the campaign. 1292 booths have been set up where 5114 workers are engaged for this Vaccination. 257 booth level Supervisors have also been involved.
Though India is free from Polio, the drops are given to the children as the disease persists in neighboring countries.
Once the booth level activity is completed, the workers will move door to door on Monday and Tuesday to track the missed out children and immunise them. Deputy Commissioner has urged the parents to come forward and immunise their children so that their future is ensured safe from polio.
