Cachar district administration to start air-dropping essential supplies; trail landing done informs DC
In a video message to residents of the valley, Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli has informed that the administration is soon going to start air-dropping essential supplies across Silchar.
“We have tested trail-landing with the help of the Indian Air Force, but we need flat surfaces to drop the essentials. Will request all building owners to lend their terraces to us to be able to drop these supplies and then distribute them across. Please don’t try to catch the supplies while we drop it as this might injure some people. Also keep the roof free and allow us to drop the essentials which can be used later,” she said.
The DC further added that approximately 10000 quintals of rice has already been distributed across the valley. “We know that this is not enough and we have received 2,80,000 SOS calls, emails and messages and are aware of the situation. Please have faith on us. The entire state government along with CM sir are all with us to help us in this grim situation,” she added.
Jalli also urged residents to keep patience and not attack rescue workers. She added that areas like NH Road, Sarat Pally, Das colony are still witnessing strong current and hence rescuers are not being able to mobilise support there.
“During Covid as well, you supported me like an elder sister and even now, I am there to fight the situation for you. Please support me and stand by me. I won’t walk away from this situation and will fight till the end,” she promised.
