Cachar: Employer allegedly lynches daily wager for not reporting to work, causes unrest in area

A daily wager has been beaten to death for his absence from work by the employer. This incident happened last night in the Pangram area of Udharbond in Cachar. A dumper truck business owner, Tamiz Uddin has allegedly lynched Hira Bauri, the daily wager who was absent on duty on December 13. As per the available information, Hira Bauri died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, moments after he was taken there for treatment. This incident resulted in a clash last night and only after the intervention of the Udharbond Police, the situation was brought under control.

As Hira Baurin did not report to duty, Tamiz came to his home yesterday and asked him to come to work. When he refused, he was dragged by the towel (gamcha) that was on his neck. Regarding this incident, the victim’s brother Moti Bauri said, “We don’t know why he was absent from work, maybe he was unwell or something. But Tamiz Uddin forced him to go to work, but when he refused to listen to him, he dragged him inhumanly by his neck. Later he took my brother to his home and along with some other people, beat him mercilessly”.

Hira Bauri’s cousin further said, “After Tamiz Uddin took him to his home, three of his brothers too joined and locked him in a room. Four of them attacked Hira and when he lost sense, they just threw his body outside their home by the roadside. We were searching for him already and found his senseless body by the road near Tamiz’s house”.

The senseless body was then taken to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital where Hira breathed his last. Later Hira’s family members went to the Udharbond Police Station to lodge an FIR again Tamiz and his brothers. But as the news about his death spread in the village, it created an unrest in the area. A section of people also tried to attack the alleged murderer’s house but the police were able to stop them. As of now, Tamiz Uddin is a fugitive. The police have lodged an FIR in this case. The demand for the arrest of the alleged murderer was raised by some rightist groups in front of Udharbond Police Station last night.
