Cachar Floods: No Space for last rites in Borkhala’s village; Prof sails 15km for cremation
It is hard to believe how terrible nature can be without experiencing it. And thus the scene from Cachar district may leave you gutted.
A man named Niran Das died in Barkhala’s Chutrasangan village in Cachar district on Thursday where almost all the houses in Chutrasangan village on the banks of the Barak river are under flood waters and hence there is no space for last rites.
Nobody from the administration was reachable and neither did anyone reach them with help. Eventually, after waiting for 24 hours, Ramendra Das, a Professor took the initiative and sailed with the dead body 15 kms to Katigorah Babur Bazar where the body was cremated and last rites were performed.
This is to be noted here that Chutrasangan is the same village where Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli had gone for flood inspection last month and was pictured walking on muddy land.

The picture got accolades all over the nation and she was lauded for her efforts. This was just last month and now the same village is lying without attention from the authorities.
