Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi all declared as Green zones; only 3 districts of Assam in Orange zone
On Friday, the Union Health Ministry issued a revised list of districts under red, orange and green zones. This comes in note as the government explores modalities for relaxations after May 3, when the nationwide lockdown is scheduled to end.
A total of 130 districts across the country have been placed under the red zone, while 284 in orange and 319 districts have been identified as green zones.
As per the revised criteria, Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan, in a letter to state chief secretaries, said, green zones are districts that haven’t reported a fresh case in 21 days. The orange zones are those with a few cases, and the red ones have a large number of cases.
30 districts of Assam have been declared as green zones, while three are placed in orange zone. There are none in red zone.
Health Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted about the same. He wrote, “It is heartening to share 30 out of 33 districts fall under Green Zone, as per @MoHFW_INDIA categorization of India’s districts. Only 3 are put under Orange zone, and none in Red zone. This is a cause for both cheer and caution. We need to remain vigilant. #AssamCares
