Cachar Police and CRPF arrests man with illegal weapons in Silchar

In a joint operation Cachar Police and CRPF confiscated illegal weapons from a person identified as Shahid Ahmed Barbhuya (23 years). He is a resident of Gonigram Village (part-IV,PS-Katigora). The joint team has also seized a factory made pistol and 6 rounds of ammunition from the accused. The authorities will investigate the matter further and take follow up action.
Recently in a similar such operation, the officials confiscated WY (What’s Yours’) drugs worth Rs. 2 crore from a lodge in Silchar. The two authorities then launched a joint operation and party drug was seized from Kalibari Lodge located near Rangpur Petrol Pump in Silchar, Assam. Police arrested two suspects and confiscated 100 packets of WY tablets, each packet consisting of 195 tablets. Zayed Ahmed (28 years old) son of Jamaluddin and Jallaluddin (36 years old) son of Motossir Ali were the two arrested suspects both of whom hailed from Karimganj district and were halting at the lodge.
Few days back Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Cachar Police arrested Rhino poachers from Katigorah. On February 14, CISF confiscated gold-biscuits worth Rs 60 lakhs from Silchar airport.
These repeated incidents substantiates the fact that slowly but surely Barak Valley is becoming the hub for transport of illegal substances and weapons out of the country and in some cases to various parts within country itself which have become alarming signs for the residents of “Island of Peace.
