Cachar Police busts illegal betting and drug peddling racket in the district, Apprehend three bettors and three drug peddlers
Today at around 5:10 pm, Cachar Police carried out a successful drive against illegal betting (teer & ending) at Nagapatty and Radhamadhav road resulting in the arrest of prime accused Nandu Paul, aged 44 years, along with two other accomplices, Raju Ghosh, aged 41 years, and Gautam Kangshabanik, aged 41 years. The accused were identified as residents of Sonai road, Saratpally, Shyamanada Lane, and Bilpar respectively. The trio had been running illegal betting operations for a significant period of time.
During the operation, the police team seized several betting items and recovered Rs. 57,000/- cash from their possession. Efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal betting racket.
In another successful operation today evening, based on a secret input, Cachar Police apprehended three drug peddlers identified as Bebul Hussain Laskar alias Kala, aged 30 years, Abdul Tahir Laskar, aged 29 years, and Abul Hussain Laskar alias Siblu, aged 28 years. The accused were residents of Saidpur Village Part IV (Katagastala), Didarkush Village Part I, and Dhonipur Village Ward No. 9 respectively.
During the raid, the police recovered 16 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 180 grams from their possession. Legal action is being initiated against the arrested individuals for their involvement in drug peddling.
