Cachar Police busts unauthorised warehoused loaded with subsidised fertilisers, confiscates three trucks
In another successful operation against the illegal transportation of subsidised fertilisers, Cachar Police has busted an unauthorised warehouse stocked with around 1,500 sacks of subsidised urea. Each sack weighs 45 kilograms. Police officials, working under the direct instruction of Cachar SP, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, managed to confiscate three trucks loaded with 600 sacks each.
The operation was carried out at around 9:00 pm yesterday at the Damcherra area located in Cachar – Dima Hasao border. As it was reported exclusively by Barak Bulletin, the nexus involved in the illegal transportation use Silchar – Haflong road as a safe gateway to transport the subsidised fertilizers meant for farmers in Cachar.
Along with the trucks, Cachar Police arrested three drivers Farookh Ahmed, Bilal Hussain and Ainul Haque Borkhola. According to their statement, they have loaded the trucks at the Damcherra area and were headed to Mizoram.
“We have seen reports claiming that there are trucks loaded with fertilisers parked near Damcherra area. Based on that we launched an operation and nabbed them. These are subsidised fertilisers procured by the Government of Assam for the local farmers. Since it was a diversion of government stock, it is a crime and we are investigating it. We have got some links that connect us to districts in Lower Assam and we are in the process of nabbing the entire racket,” said SP Cachar, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur while interacting with the press.
One name that has surfaced through several sources is that of Zakir from Bagha. “Yes, we have heard the name and we are in the process of investigation. We are hopeful that we will uproot the entire racket,” added SP Cachar.
