Cachar Police conducts successful raid, seizes 3kg suspected heroin, 3,000 YABA tablet, detains 2
Based on secret tip-off and information from official quarters, a team of Cachar Police consisting of key members from Kachudaram Police Outpost and Sonai Police Outpost launched an operation to nab illegal trade of banned substances. As per available information, the initial raid was conducted in ‘Nuton Ramnagar’ area and the Police managed to detain two individuals identified as Aklash Haque (52) and Nazrul Haque (50).
The Police escorted them to different parts of the suspected zone and recovered around 3000 YABA tablets from locations earmarked by the two detained individuals.
At night, the Police escorted the detained individuals to Kachudaram Part IV and launched another search operation. The officials managed to crack the code and identified a zone where further search was conducted at night.
What can be easily classified as a massive success, the Police managed to trace and seize 152 soap cases consisting of approximately 3 kilograms of suspected heroin.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta himself joined the operation. While speaking about the seizure with Barak Bulletin correspondent, SP Mahatta said, “An operation has been launched under the leadership of Sonai OC and Kachudaram OC and a significant amount of contraband has been seized. The operation is still going on and the Police are still on the field. So it won’t be possible to comment on the quantity of the seizure.”
Meanwhile, the sources on the ground informed that the Police are raiding several other suspected zones. Residence of Abdul Kalam Laskar – one of the alleged masterminds in smuggling of drugs, was raiding. Sources informed that the Police seized two vehicles from the residence of Laskar which was abandoned. AS-11-AS 4221 and AS-01-AA 6965 are the number of the cars seized by the cops.
