Cachar Police confiscates 2.12 KG brown sugar from Dholai; detains three
Cachar police has attained success in the Dholai area. The officials have successfully confiscated a consignment of brown sugar and detained three individuals.
According to the police department, based on a secret tip-off, a special task force was formed. Deployed at the Rajnagar area in Bagha Bazar, the taskforce stopped a Maruti Suzuki Alto Car. The intel was correct as the Police confiscated, 2.112 KG of suspected brown sugar.
The Police sources have informed that the suspected abusive substance was smuggled into Cachar through Vairengte – a bordering town in the Kolasib district of Mizoram state. Officials are suspecting that the consignment was shipped to Bangladesh via Cachar.
Three individuals have been detained by the Cachar Police, Nazim Uddin Laskar (37) Faruk Ahmed Barbhuiya (34) and Nazrul Hoque Laskar (45). The Police officials have informed that all three of them are from Cachar and they were probably used to smuggle the consignment to the next destination.
SP Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena said that the matter is being investigated further and three of the detained individuals will be interrogated. “We will hopefully get some important insights from them which will help us unearth the racket if there is one,” said the SP.
