Cachar Police confiscates 750g suspected heroin, opens fire during chase
In the operation against the supply of drugs in the state, Cachar Police launched an operation this evening in the Channighat area of Dholai. To nab the three absconding drug peddlers, the police had to fire two rounds of bullet and after a long chase, one of them was apprehended while two are still at large. In this operation, the Cachar Police team was successful in recovering 55 soap cases filled with suspected heroin.
Based on secret intel, the Channighat Police team of Assam Police had launched an operation on the Silchar-Aizwal highway in Dholai. The intel proved to be right and the police team tailed a personal vehicle along with another scooter. When the drug peddlers sensed they were being followed, they started to abscond.
After a long chasing this team, and firing two rounds of bullets, one of the three suspected peddlers, Tamizur Rahman was successfully caught unharmed by the police. In this operation, the Channighat Police team recovered 55 soap cases from his possession.
The net weight of the heroin was found to be around 750 grams and in international market terms it is estimated to be worth around 5 crore rupees in the international market. The Cachar Police is still carrying on the operation to nab the two absconding drug peddlers. The suspect was apprehended under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
