
Cachar Police rescues kidnapped betel-nut businessman; Operation went on for 10 days
Betel nut businessman, Safique Uddin was kidnapped 10 days back. On December 26, from Udharbond’s Madhura area, he was kidnapped by some miscreants at gunpoint.
The Police launched an operation on the same day to rescue him from the kidnappers. The family members were living amidst tension. If sources are to be believed, the kidnappers had established a connection with the family members with several demands.
After ten days of efforts in the dense jungle area under Udharbond constituency, Cachar Police confirmed that Safique Uddin has been rescued unhurt from the Patimara area. Breaking the news to Barak Bulletin, SP Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur said, “Yes, he has been rescued from the Udharbond area and he is with us for a follow-up procedure.”
When asked who were behind the kidnapping, Cachar SP, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur said, “We are still in the process of investigating that.”
