Cachar Police Thwart Illegal Smuggling in Two Swift Operations on Same Day, Fertilizers and IMFL Seized
In a remarkable display of vigilance, Cachar Police carried out two significant crackdowns within a single day, effectively intercepting two illegal operations involving stolen fertilizers and smuggled liquor.
The first operation took place in the early hours of November 10 at around 12:30 AM. Silchar Sadar Police stopped a vehicle bearing registration number MZ-01N-6276, which was found transporting 300 bags of fertilizer (Bharat DAP) without valid documentation.
Suspecting that the fertilizer had been stolen, police apprehended two individuals, identified as Nazmul Hq. Talukdar and Miton Ahmed Laskar, both residents of Dholai, Cachar.
A case has been registered under Silchar Police Station, under sections 61(2)/303(2)/317(2)/317(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the huge consignment of fertilizer along with the vehicle has been seized. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
In the second operation, during a routine check at Digorkhal toll gate in Kalainchera, Police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-QC-8234, arriving from Meghalaya.
After a thorough search of the vehicle, the police team uncovered 10 cartons containing around 120 bottles (750 ml each) of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), labelled “For sale in Meghalaya only.” One individual was apprehended in connection with the illicit transport. Further legal action is underway.
