Cachar sets new record as 453 test positive on Monday; Three died at SMCH with Covid
Cachar has again reported the all-time highest number of cases in one day. Monday, 453 individuals have tested positive in the district. This leaves Cachar with 1502 active cases. 1139 individuals are in home isolation which means the district has a hospitalisation rate of 24.16%.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) informed that currently there are 233 individuals admitted to the hospital and out of them, 95 are in ICU. Dr. Gupta added, 28 individuals are on ventilators while 144 are on oxygen support. On Monday, 15 patients were admitted to the hospital while nine got discharged.
Three patients succumbed in the last 24 hours in COVID wards. Moynamati Teli (50) of Nutan Ramnagar, Cachar was admitted to the hospital on May 14 and breathed her last on May 16, in the evening at 7 pm. Sitangshu Sekhar Bhattacharjee of Arunachal, Cachar, aged 85 years was admitted to SMCH on May 14 and expired on May 16 at 11:02 o’clock.
Saradindu Roy from Dwarbond, Cachar, aged 52 years was admitted to SMCH on May 3 and expired today morning at 10-06 am.
Karimganj registered the highest spike of 148 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 6,004. Of the 148 active cases detected on Monday, 127 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test and 21 under RT-PCR.
The district has currently 680 active COVID-19 cases while 143 patients have been discharged from hospital and home isolation on Monday. 1,595 swab samples were collected on Monday. Altogether 2,50,729 samples have been tested so far.
120 individuals have tested positive in Hailakandi taking the active cases in the district to 760. 56 COVID positive patients are admitted to the district’s Civil Hospital while 16 are at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Six are in Algapur Hospital too which has isolation wards. This means the hospitalisation rate of Hailakandi stands at 10.26% way below Cachar’s 24.16%.
Overall, in Barak Valley, there are 2942 active cases of COVID19.
