Cachar SP claims legal actions against allegations on supporting coal syndicate

Cachar SP Rakesh Roushan came down heavily on the allegations of supporting the coal syndicate in Barak Valley.

Talking to reporters at his office on Monday, Roushan minced no word in saying ” the allegations of favouring the coal foulplay are utterly baseless and I shall seek legal action against the persons for blaming the police.”

Talking to the press, the SP said guidelines set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) are being mandatorily followed in checking the vehicles loaded with coal.

” There is zero tolerance against any foulplay and in the past two years, during my tenure, 64 persons have been arrested, 54 trucks laden with illegal coal have been seized and 32 cases have been registered. In the past three months, 15 trucks have been seized and four persons have been arrested. However, despite such steps, there are baseless allegations labelled against police which is unfortunate. The questions raised against us are actually efforts to injure and insult the image of Assam Police,” Roushan stated.

Interestingly, while the allegations were raised by none other than Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, who had expressed his discontent on the role of Cachar Police, the Cachar SP chose not to utter names of the elected representative and said ” If one percent of the allegations are proved with adequate evidences, I am ready to do whatever they would ask me to do. But I am also consulting legal experts and if need be I shall not hesitate to take legal actiok against those who are raising the allegations.”
