Cachar SSP Partha Protim Das Receives DGP’s Commendation Gold Medal

Senior Superintendent of Police, Cachar, IPS, Partha Protim Das has been awarded the prestigious Director General of Police’s (DGP) Commendation Medal (Gold) for the year 2025. The award was announced on December 31, 2025.

The award was announced by the Assam Police Headquarters, Guwahati, by order of the Director General of Police. It honours officers and personnel of Assam Police and sister organisations for their outstanding meritorious work and dedicated service to the community and the state. The medals are given in two categories, Gold and Silver, to recognise exceptional contributions in policing and public safety.

A 2018 batch IPS Officer of the Assam Meghalaya cadre, SSP Das is an alumnus of NIT Surat, where he completed his B.Tech. Over the years, he has served in several key policing roles across Barak Valley and other parts of Assam.

His field career includes serving as Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Lakhipur, Cachar, in 2021, following which he was posted in Upper Assam, where he was involved in armed operations against militant groups. In 2022, he was posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Karimganj. He later served as Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, taking charge in February 2023, before being elevated as Senior Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, now known as Sribhumi. He assumed charge as SSP Cachar in October 2025.

SSP Das has built a strong reputation for professionalism in his postings; his leadership and commitment to public safety have been widely noted. During his tenure in Sribhumi and Cachar, SSP Das oversaw several critical police operations, ranging from border-related security incidents to the successful tracking of accused persons who had fled outside the state. His operation against drug and narcotics peddling during his tenure in Sribhumi is widely lauded.

Officers selected for the DGP’s Commendation Medal (Gold) are those who have gone above and beyond their routine duties, demonstrating outstanding devotion, courage, leadership and service to the people of Assam. Silver medals are also awarded to personnel for meritorious service in various areas of policing and public order.

The award is considered one of the highest recognitions at the state police level. It reflects not only personal achievement but also the strong performance of the departments and units these officers lead.

Amitava Sinha, APS, Sr. Supdt. of Police, Hailakandi also won the Gold.
