The convicted, a resident of Nagakhal under Kachudram police station, was also fined Rs. 20,000.

On November 24, 2023, Laskar abducted the minor from her home while her family slept. He took her to Sonai, where he held her captive and sexually assaulted her over several days. Despite being married, Laskar pressured the victim for marriage during her captivity.

Following a thorough investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet, and the trial commenced. On May 7, 2025, the court found Laskar guilty. The sentencing, announced on Friday, included 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, with an additional 6 months in prison if the fine is unpaid.

Additionally, Laskar was sentenced to 7 years and fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 366 of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping, with an extra 3 months in case of non-payment. Both sentences will run concurrently.
