The procession was also attended by journalists of Silchar who protested against the brutal killing of the minor boy.

Speaking to reporters Sadhan Purkayastha of Aamra Bangali organisation said, “An 8 year old innocent boy was stabbed to death in broad daylight with a dao ruthlessly. This will remain as scandalous chapter in human civilisation. We want the killer of this child to be tried in a fast track court. The District Superintendent of Police has assured us that he will issue the charge sheet within seven days. We hope the charge sheet will be filed by the police as per his promise. Also, we as citizens of this city are appealing to the lawyers of Silchar District Bar and Silchar Advocates Bar that no one should stand for the murderer in this case.”

Joydeep Chakraborty on behalf of the organisers of the Candle March, Humans of Silchar, said, “We members of Humans of Silchar today appealed to the people of Silchar to take part in a candle light procession from Khudiram Bose’s statue to Goldighi Mall to protest against the killing of Ayan Manjur Barbhuiya in broad daylight in Silchar town. Various organisations and dignitaries of Silchar joined us today. We have only one demand – that the trial of Ayan’s murderer should be held in a fast track court and that he should not be granted any bail during the trial.”

He added, “It should be mentioned by the police in their report that he will be kept in custody and will be tried in the court and then hanged. Surely there are other culprits in this murder, so that they should be arrested immediately by the police too.”

It maybe mentioned that on last Saturday, a youth named Appu Majumdar stabbed a minor boy named Ayan Majhar Barbhuiya to death with a knife at Silchar Water Works Road. According to the Police, the murder took place as an extension to a land dispute between two parties. The Police have meanwhile arrested the killer Apu Majumdar however netizens are demanding his death penalty.
