Car falls into ditch at Kalinagar; 3 injured
Three persons including a child, suffered critical injuries after an Alto car, in which they were travelling, lost control and fell into a ditch on the roadside at Kalinagar in southern Assam’s Hailakandi district on Saturday.
The injured persons were identified as Asiya Begum, her child Muqtadir Hasan Mazumder, and the driver.
According to sources, the mishap took place around 12:05 pm this afternoon. The Alto car, in which Asiya and Muqtadir were travelling, lost control after reaching near a mosque at Kalinagar, Part-V, following which it skidded off and plummeted down on the roadside.
As a result, Asiya and Muqtadir, who were going to Janakibazar from Silchar, were gravely injured. The driver of the car Asit Barman Purkayastha was also injured.
Receiving the information of the accident, police reached the spot. All of them – Asiya, Muqtadir and Asit were thereafter rushed to a local primary health centre. However, considering their condition, they were shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). The condition of Muqtadir was serious, as per last available reports.
The car was later taken out of the ditch and taken to Katakhal police outpost.
