CC TV footage captures miscreants stealing scooter parked outside SP Office Silchar
In a shocking incident of audacity, miscreants stole a scooter parked right outside the heavily guarded Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Silchar. The incident took place last night at around 9:30 pm, leaving the victim, Jhonny Kangsa, baffled and alarmed.
Cachar Police has recently made strides in apprehending motorcycle thieves across the city. However, the daring theft that occurred on Silchar Park Road highlights the growing menace of vehicle theft in the area.
Jhonny Kangsa, a resident of Silchar Park Road, had parked his scooter, bearing the registration plate AS11 N3166, outside his residence. The location of his parking spot, directly opposite the SP office, is known for its heavy police presence and security measures.
At 9:47 pm, Kangsa returned to find his scooter missing. He immediately reviewed the CCTV footage, which revealed the shocking truth. The footage showed that the thieves had arrived at the scene, unlocked Kangsa’s scooter with their own keys, and fled towards the India Club.

Kangsa recounted the incident, saying, “I locked the scooter after parking it and took the keys with me. As we can see in the CCTV footage, the miscreants came with their own keys and unlocked the scooter before riding it away. They were dressed like ordinary civilians, and we have filed a complaint with the police.”
The daring theft has raised serious concerns about the security of the area and the audacity of the criminals, who boldly conducted their unlawful activity in one of the most secure zones in Silchar.
Local authorities have been alerted to the incident, and the police patrolling teams are on high alert to apprehend the culprits. Investigations are currently underway to identify and bring the scooter thieves to justice.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating the increasing menace of vehicle theft in the region, even in close proximity to law enforcement offices. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their vehicles.
