Chencoorie Road to remain closed for vehicular traffic from Wednesday for road construction

Nearly every Silcharian has for at least once experienced the miserable Chencoorie Road filled with water and mud for the past few years. Two important educational institutions Ramanuj Vidyamandir and Vivekananda College are located along the stretch of the road and it becomes a headache for students to attend their classes during rainy days.

For what may come as a relief to Silcharians, in an order issued by the Executive Engineer of PWD (Silchar and Udharbond Terminal Road Division) the stretch of Chengcoorie Road starting from College Road Point to National Highway shall remain closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic from yesterday (October 13) 9 pm till 19th October 6 am for road construction.

The construction will be performed under State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD-G) scheme of Silchar Loksabha Constituency for the year 2017-18.

As of now, seamless connectivity between the College Road and National Highway is only what can be hoped after construction.
