Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to inaugurate Silchar-Dibrugarh weekly train on 8th April

Good news for travellers of Barak Valley. The Northeast Frontier Railway has announced a new weekly train which will run between Silchar and Dibrugarh. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MoS Railways, Rajen Gohain and general manager Sanjeev Roy along with other senior officials of NF Railways will visit Silchar on April 8, 2018 to inaugurate the weekly train.
This train will help people of Silchar travelling to New Delhi to connect with Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. The weekly train will leave from Silchar station every Tuesday at 10:15 PM and reach Dibrugarh next morning at 11:20 AM. Rajdhani departs from Dibrugarh for Delhi at 8:35 PM daily. The train for Silchar will depart from Dibrugarh every Monday at 7 PM and reach next morning at 8:40 AM. The train will cover 526 kilometre distance in 13 hours and 40 minutes.
The train from Silchar to Dibrugarh will have 19 coaches – one AC Coach, eight sleeper coaches, six general coaches and and others. The train will halt at Badarpur, New Halflong, Lumding, Dimapur, Moriani Junction, Shimulguri and Shivsagar Town.
Last year while inaugurating Namami Barak festival in Silchar on November 18 (2017) Chief Minister Sonowal had requested Gohain for a Silchar – Dibrugarh train.
