Assam is going through its worst flood in recent history. 30 of the 33 districts are affected, 15 already dead due to rising water and landslides and about 4.6 million human lives are impacted. The meteorological department’s forecast predicts more rain in the next 24 hours.

To take stock of the situation, chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal is scheduled to travel tomorrow. As per sources, he will reach Kumbhirgram airport tomorrow noon and then he will board a helicopter to have a look at the areal view of all three districts. Sources told us that a temporary helipad is being built at Police Parade Ground in Tarapur as the chief minister might want to land and take a road trip to take stalk of the nearby embankments.
