Corona Scare: Kachakanti Temple to remain shut for pilgrims, tourists
Assam has so far remained Covid19 free and the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the residents of the state and the region are kept safely away from the virus that has resulted in a global pandemic. Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the residents to encourage social distancing and only step out when it is extremely necessary. Deputy Commissioner of Cachar District Barnali Sharma has also rolled out a set of advisories including a prohibition on any kind of social gathering, sale of cut fruits, vegetables and meat in open among many others.
Keeping the advisories in mind, the Kachakanti Temple Administration has announced that the temple will remain shut till further notice. General Secretary Asngshuman Dutta said that the administration has decided to take the step in order to avoid social gathering. He made it clear that the pandits will continue to offer puja to the goddess, however, the temple will remain shut for “darshanarthi”.
“It is to inform to all the pilgrims and tourists that the divine site of worship, the great Kachakanti will remain shut till further notice. We have taken this decision keeping the advisories released by Central and State Government and the district administration. This is an effort from us to fight the Covid 19 virus,” said Dutta.
Kachakanti Temple located in Udharbond Silchar is a ‘Shakti Pith’ and attracts a huge number of pilgrims from in and out of the state.
