Coronavirus Scare: NIT Silchar students asked to vacate hostels; institution shuts
In the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases in India, the Assam Government on Sunday decided to close down all schools, colleges, gyms and Cinema Halls till 29th of March. Assam Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna said in press conference in Guwahati.
Following the announcement, NIT Silchar has also suspended its classes till 31st march 2020 and asked its students to leave the hostel immediately, according to a notice uploaded in its official website.
“All classes, examination and any other academic activities of the institute shall remain suspended with immediate effect till 31st March 2020. The Hostels shall be closed with immediate effect. All UG, PG, PhD students and project staff are instructed to leave the campus immediately” the notice mentioned.
Updates from Assam University and other major universities are yet to be received.
