Speeding dumper kills 6 year old in Hailakandi

On the national highway in the Baurghat bypass area of Hailakandi, a speeding dumper ran over a school student identified as six years old, Abdul Akit Majumdar.

On the way back home from a private school in the town of Hailakandi, the second standard student, Abdul Akit, lost his life on the streets, hit by a speeding dumper. Akit’s father was supposed to buy him a winter jacket, so he was returning home early

After the accident, the driver tried to escape the scene by speeding his vehicle but failed as it was detained by the locals. However, later the drived got mixed with the gathered crowd and managed to stay away from the police.

In the meanwhile, the agitated people started protesting by blocking the national higway. Magistrate Madhumati Nath, Tridip Roy, ADC Amalendu Roy reached to the spot one by one along with the police officials. The agitated mob blocked the street along with the dead body of the student. The people continued to demonstrate against the administration even in the presence of the magistrate.

In the mean time both MLAs Sujam Uddin Laskar and Anwar Hussain Laskar also rushed to the spot. The road blockade caused severe tension and traffic jam. Lawyer Anwar Hussain Laskar expressed anger over the role of the district administration. MLA was unhappy of tje fact that DC Adil Khan choose not to visit the spot. The election observer’s car also got trapped in traffic jam.

District Development Officer of Hailakandi district FR Laskar rushed to the spot. Finally, after the intervention of DDC AF Lashkar the locals decided to withdraw the road blockade, and the situation calmed down and the body was handed over to the family.
