Cousins dead after a lightning strike in Dholai, two critically injured
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a lightning strike has taken the lives of two cousins life in the Ganganagar area of Dholai in Cachar. This incident happened on Thursday afternoon, during a thunderstorm in Dholai. 17-year-old Dilawar Hussain and 14-year-old Riyabul Hussain were on their way home when they were waiting under a shed for the rain to subside. Another two boys were also injured in the same strike. The injured have been rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment, their condition is said to be critical.
On May 2, when Dilawar and three of his friends were roaming around the area in the evening, heavy downpours started all of a sudden. This created panic and chaos in the area as everyone rushed for shelter. The four friends stopped under a waiting shed by the side of the road unaware of the imminent danger lurking above, for the rain to lose its intensity.
But unfortunately, fate had other plans. Tragically, lightning struck the shelter with lethal force, claiming the lives of Dilwar and Riyabul in an instant. Nebula Hussain and Farukh Ahmed, the other two teens were also severely injured in the lightning strike.
The locals there rushed the two injured to the nearest hospital for medical attention. Their condition is critical. Following the incident, Dholai Police reached the spot of the unfortunate accident and sent the mortal remains of the two cousins for postmortem. The suddenness and ferocity of the lightning strike left the community in shock and disbelief. Residents, stunned by the unfolding tragedy, rallied together to assist the injured and recover the bodies of the deceased.
