COVID: Free Rapid tests at Private Hospitals in Cachar; Green Heals starts today, others to follow

On August 10, 2020, the Joint Director of Cachar Health Services issued a letter requesting the proprietors of all private nursing homes in Silchar to conduct COVID test at their premises.

“I am to request you to take urgent necessary steps from your end and make necessary arrangement for conducting Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) of COVID-19 free of cost with your trained Laboratory Technician in your respective health establishments,” the order read.

Following the order, Green Heals hospital has started collecting samples and testing them for COVID19. “We have set up a separate booth so that the laboratory technician is at a safe distance while collecting samples,” said Rudra Narayan Gupta, renowned industrialist and director of Green Heals Hospital.

“Testing is essential to restrict the further spread of the virus in the community and therefore we got into action immediately after getting the letter,” Gupta added.

The proprietor of another Hospital said they will start testing soon too. “We need to iron out a few things especially an isolation chamber where the patients will sit in case they test positive. Because our hospital has been converted to a containment zone once, we have lost a lot of employees. So, we will start once we get our house in order,” said the proprietor.

The administration is providing the testing kits and Rudra Gupta informed that he has demarcated an area in Green Heals for the COVID positive patients to wait after they test positive. “The administration informed us that they will transfer patients from Green Heals to the respective COVID Care Centre,” said Gupta.
