COVID: Lowest number of deaths in SMCH in the last 15 days, fewer admissions; 95 in ICU
It has only been a rise for Cachar and Barak Valley in the last 15 days. Experts said that was the peak and in June, the cases will start to decline. Though it will be a premature assumption yet, a hint of the fall is finally visible. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that 282 patients are currently admitted to the COVID wards of the SMCH.
However, 35 patients took admission in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on May 30. This is the lowest number of admission in the last 15 days. At the same time, the number of patients discharged from the hospital was 40. Again, for the first time in the last 15 days, more patients got discharged than admitted. Also, yesterday, 10 individuals were declared dead at SMCH while today the number has dropped to one in the last 24 hours (till 5:00 pm).
The worrying sign is that there are still 95 patients in ICU and 29 under ventilator. Anwar Hussain Laskar, a 34-year-old resident of Cachar’s, Krishnapur was admitted on May 25 and he breathed his last on May 29 at 8:45 pm.
On Sunday, 3,279 samples were tested on the Rapid Antigen Test kit, and out of them, 201 happened to be positive. Three samples tested positive on RT-PCR taking the total number of patients positive till 6:00 pm to 204. The number will get updated at night once the administration declares the total number of samples tested positive.
In Hailakandi, 104 individuals tested positive on Covid 19. The current number of Active Cases, in Hailakandi stands at 1321. In Karimganj district, 1168 samples were tested and out of them, 58 were positive.
