COVID: Press fraternity mourns the untimely demise of journalist Sanjib Banerjee
The untimely death of Sanjib Benerjee has shocked the whole media circle of Barak Valley. The 47-year-old, News Times’ Silchar Bureau correspondent has succumbed to COVID and other ailments on January 31, at 11:30 pm. He was suffering from diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease and lastly COVID hit him hard. He has left behind, his wife and daughter, along with both his parents and other family members.
The deceased, Benerjee has breathed his last in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where he was admitted on January 30 as he had tested positive for Covid. Along with Covid and type-two diabetes he was also suffering from Acute Respiratory Disease Syndrome and Rheumatic heart disease.
Department of Information and Public Relations Office, Cachar have expressed their condolences saying, “Journalist Sanjib Benejrjee’s untimely demise has shocked us deeply. We pray for peace for the soul of the departed and express sympathy towards the family”.
Banerjee is a resident of Silchar’s Meherpur area. However, he completed his education in Diphu. General Secretary of Silchar Press Club has expressed his condolences to the family members of Sanjeeb Banerjee. Other members of the Silchar Press Club also joined him.
