COVID Update: 187 positive so far in Cachar; 2 died in the last 24 hours in SMCH

The district administration has informed that 187 individuals have tested positive so far in Cachar district on Wednesday till 8:00 PM. Out of them, 177 were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test Kit.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that two individuals with COVID19 infection succumbed at SMCH in the last 24 hours. Namita Dey and Himangshu Dey were both admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and breathed their last yesterday.

Dr. Gupta informed that 136 patients are admitted to the COVID ward of the hospital and 12 patients are in ICU. The VP informed, two patients are currently placed under ventilation.

Silchar Medical College and Hospital has performed 70,559 tests so far. Cumulative positive cases in Cachar till today morning were 3292 and 1903 have been discharged. If the two deaths announced by Dr. Gupta get adjudged as COVID death by the death audit board then the death toll will rise to 11 in the district.
