COVID Update: Hailakandi reports 0, Cachar 21, Karimganj 13; 2 under ventilator in SMCH
Good news coming in from Hailakandi as the district reported zero COVID cases. The district health department informed that 428 samples were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test kit. 44 samples were tested on RT-PCR. Currently, there are six active cases in the district.
In Cachar, according to DSO Dr. Ibrahim Ali 21 individuals have tested positive. 15 of them tested positive on RAT and six on RT-PCR. The number was shared at 8:00 pm and the tests are going on, so, the final number can grow further.
The authority of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that 22 individuals are currently admitted to the hospital and two patients have been placed under ventilator. Currently there are 154 active cases in Cachar district.
In Karimganj district, 1079 samples were tested and 13 of them tested positive. 17 patients are currently being treated at the Karimganj Covid Hospital and six from the district are admitted to the SMCH. In Karimganj, overall, there are 86 Covid cases.
It is worth mentioning here that the health minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today that in districts with more that 100 active cases, elementary schools must remain shut. At this stage, Cachar is the only district in Barak Valley with more than 100 active cases.
