Cachar has reported 55 new COVID positive cases (Till 8:00 PM) on July 21. “Out of the 55 positive cases reported so far, 43 are jawans of Assam Rifles and they were tested using the rapid test kit,” informed Suman Choudhury, Media Expert, District Health Department.
He added that the tests are still being conducted in Silchar Medical College and Hospital and the number might further rise.
What comes as extremely sad news is that a 7-year-old, Nibash Roy has died in the hospital. As per the spokesperson of the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, the seven-year-old was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. “He was suffering from Nephritis and his heart blocked last night at around 10:30 PM. Post death his swab samples were tested and we were waiting for the results,” said the spokesperson.
As informed by the district health department, Nibash Roy’s sample tested positive for COVID19.
That is not the only death related to COVID19 in Cachar. Bagha Bazaar’s 46-year-old resident, Samsul Islam has also died and tested positive for COVID19.
“Yes, both of them tested positive for COVID19, but we cannot say that they died because of COVID. There is a State Level Audit Board, which will declare the cause of death. For now, the death audit is awaited,” added Suman Choudhury.
