Cross border love story : Karimganj man elopes with girlfriend from Bangladesh illegally, Caught by locals at Katigorah

A Bangladeshi young woman was arrested with her Karimganj boyfriend from Katigorah’s Rajeshwarpur located in Cachar district. The couple was caught by the public after the man eloped with his girlfriend from Bangladesh and arrived at Rajeshwarpur.

It has been proved again in reality that love does not understand national barriers. A young man from Karimganj district of India’s Assam state reached Bangladesh illegally by swimming the river in search of work. There he fell in love with a Bangladeshi girl and ran away with her. Once again, the couple entered India illegally and got caught by the public. As soon as the lovers entered the Assam state of India through illegal means, the lover duo got into great trouble. Local people caught the couple and handed them over to the police.

As per reports, Dipankar Namashudra, a youth from Telikhalorpar village in Karimganj district, crossed the Kushiara river by swimming to enter Bangladesh in search of work four months ago. Dipankar was working as a mason at Jakiganj in Sylhet district of Bangladesh. At that time, Dipankar fell in love with a young Bangladeshi girl named Aparna. He fled from Bangladesh with the young Bangladeshi woman on Saturday. They entered India through Assam-Meghalaya border from Bangladesh. Locals started suspecting them as they entered and walked through the village of Rajeshwarpur. The real information came out while interrogating the lovers. The news reached the Gumra Police Out Post and the police arrived at the spot. The locals handed over the lovers to the Police.

The lovers are currently in police custody. Dipankar said that some people from that country helped him to escape with the young lady from Bangladesh. The incident has raised questions about border security measures. How an Indian youth can illegally enter Bangladesh and escape with a young woman from that country and re-enter the country again is a big question on the capability of Border Security Force. He crossed the border both times illegally. Even after having so many security measures at the border, the incident of entering a foreign country and returning to the country again with a young woman from another country has put the border security system in the face of question marks. The incident proves that no matter how strict security measures are mentioned and barbed wire fences are installed at the border, it is still very easy to cross the country illegally.
