Crowded malls and shopping complexes; Cachar administration clamps restrictions

Cachar administration has informed through a press statement that it has observed huge crowd gatherings at various malls, shopping complexes, stores, and other business establishments in the district.

Considering the observation, the Cachar district administration has decided to put certain restrictions. Administration, in its order, stated it may lead to a spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. “This sort of approach may lead to a spike in the number of COVID positive cases,” stated the order issued by  District Development Commissioner cum CEO District Disaster Management Authority, Jessica Lalsim.

“In this connection, it is hereby directed to limit down the entry of persons to all business establishments to a certain number (as per space availability), so that there is no collision of crowd and once the handful number of customers allowed inside leave the business establishment one by one, then only the next lot/batch should be allowed,” added the order.

The order also makes it compulsory for all business establishments to ensure the availability of sanitiser and thermal scanners. It also directs the owners to put a “No Mask No Entry” label at the entry gate.

“This order comes into force with immediate effect. Violation of this is subject to punishment under Section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 & 1881PC,” states Lalsim’s order.
