DC Cachar Laya Madduri kickstarts polio eradication drive in Silchar 

In order to sustain polio eradication drive from the country, the central government on  Sunday launched Pulse Polio programme for 2019.
As a part of the nationwide initiative, Cachar District Administration along with the District Health Society organised the polio immunisation programme.
Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri formally began the proceedings by administering drops of polio vaccination to children under five years of age at the SM Dev Civil Hospital.
Encouraging the parents to bring their children for vaccination, the Deputy Commissioner said that coordinated efforts from the officials of the Health Department together with support from public can help to fight against polio.
She maintained that the services should reach far and across covering children between 0-5 years of age at every household of the district.
It may be mentioned that as many as 277979 beneficiaries have been estimated across Cachar district for the programme which shall continue till March 12. The house-to-house activity will be done on March 11 and 12.
